ABSTRACT

Experimental research on the influence of the loading rate and of generated pore water pressure during rapid load tests is carried out. In a Geotechnical centrifuge, a number of tests on piles in sand were performed. The influence of loading rate and drainage condition are the main item of this research. The testing programme, the test set-up, the test data and results are presented in part 1 of this paper, also in this book. This paper describes the results of the pore pressure measurements and the evaluation of the results. It is concluded that excess pore pressure has a significant effect on the derivation of static capacity from a Rapid Load Test in sand.
