ABSTRACT

All around the Mediterranean Sea, the semi-arid climate and the fragmented environment (geology, topography, etc) has led to high spatial and temporal variability of different components of the water resources. Major fluctuations in hydrology are consequently observed from one year to the other, but serious long-term changes are also the consequence of human modifications of the environment. The different studies that have been performed in the Mediterranean region produced a wide range of results in all areas of the water cycle.
