ABSTRACT
Research into the stability of abandoned subsurface cavities in chalk is being carried out by the French Institute INERIS (Institut National de l’Environnement Industriel et des Risques) with a special attention devoted to the abandoned underground chalk shallow mine of Estreux (Northern France).
