ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Raising the quality of each educational level, be it elementary, secondary, vocational or higher education, underlies the educational reforms currently in progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain. An important complement to this multi-level approach is the creation of a new institution-the Polytechnic of Bahrain-to meet changing student and labour market demands. This paper sheds light on the crucial role of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) responsible for school evaluations, vocational educational inspections and university quality reviews. Some insights drawn from the experience of the Australian Universities Quality Agency serve as a backdrop for prescriptions on how to conduct quality assurance effectively in the Bahraini educational milieu.
