ABSTRACT

Dr Marwan R. Kamal is President of Philadelphia University in Amman, Jordan, and formerly held the post of President of the University of Bahrain. Subsequent to his completing his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh (1961), Dr Kamal obtained an MBA (1968) from the same institution. He is also the current incumbent of the post of Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities in Jordan and is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Ahlia University (Bahrain) and Sharjah University (UAE). In the 1990s, among his other distinguished accomplishments, he was President of Yarmouk University (Irbid, Jordan) and Minister of Agriculture in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. In the 1960s and 1970s, he served the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Dhahran, Saudi Arabia) in a variety of academic and administrative positions and was a scientist at the Polymer Research Department of General Mills Corporation (Minnesota, USA). His many patents are registered in Europe and Japan and he is a frequent contributor to a wide variety of American scientific journals in diverse topical areas.
