ABSTRACT
There are various methods available for the design of piled embankments. It is generally assumed in all cases that the total vertical load of the embankment is transferred to the piles by either soil arching within the fill material or by basal reinforcement spanning between adjacent piles. Six of the most popular design methods are reviewed in this paper.
