The technological applications of biocatalysts have been steadily growing in recent decades [1, 2]. Biocatalysis offers both organic synthesis and process engineering important advantages over traditional chemical catalysis. In fact, biocatalysts function under mild operating conditions with high regio-, stereo-, and reaction specificities [3, 4].
