ABSTRACT

Approaches by combinatorial chemistry for the synthesis of large sets of compounds or libraries have played a significant role in the pharmaceutical industry. Combinatorial chemistry techniques (1-6) have been integrated into drug discovery strategies to provide an automated and systematic approach for the generation of compound diversity in conjunction with biological screens. Innovations in automated synthesis continue to stimulate new paradigms for drug discovery (7,8). The combination of vision and depth of knowledge has helped to promote a greater understanding of technology and the development of new, industrially based strategies for discovering novel lead candidates.
