ABSTRACT
Accurate diagnosis depends on the quality of mammograms; in particular, on the visibility of small, low-contrast objects within the breast image. Unfortunately, contrast between malignant tissue and normal tissue is often so low that detection of malignant tissue becomes difficult. Hence, the fundamental enhancement needed in mammography is an increase in contrast, especially for dense breasts.
