ABSTRACT

The objective of an SNP scoring assay is to determine the nucleotide base at specific sites in the genome. A variety of approaches have been developed to score SNPs, some of which exploit differences in physical properties of the DNA and oligonucleotide probes, while others rely on highly specialized enzymes to analyze DNA sequence. These methods vary in their ease of use, flexibility, scalability, and instrumentation requirements, and these factors will affect the choice of approaches employed in a highthroughput screening environment.
