ABSTRACT
I. INTRODUCTION The determination of the human genome sequence coupled with a highly parallel analysis of gene expression patterns have produced an avalanche of genomic data with the promise to unravel complex biological processes at the molecular level. To realize this promise, a comprehensive approach to data collection must be extended beyond nucleic acids to proteins-the biomolecules that are responsible for virtually all biological structures and processes.
