ABSTRACT. Starting from a given polygon, consider the sequence obtained by taking the midpoints of the edges of each polygon as the vertices of the next polygon in the sequence. The mapping from one polygon to the next is usually known as the “midpoint map”. Such sequences have been studied for over a century.
