ABSTRACT
Genetically tractable model organisms have been utilized in the search for novel genes involved in the aging process. Among these organisms is the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Features of yeast that make it attractive for study include the ease and speed with which genetic manipulations can be performed and the short time required to determine the life span.
