ABSTRACT

It has been recognized for some time that for the successful design of molecular devices, the addressability and organization of the molecular components have to be considered. Many studies on photochemically driven supramolecular assemblies have been carried out in solution, but although the results obtained from these studies have been very exciting, addressability and organization issues cannot be solved in the solution phase. For this reason, there is an increasing interest in the investigation of photochemically active molecular assemblies bound to active solid semiconductor substrates [1-4].
