ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on Mann Library’s information technology services (ITS) unit. In existence since the mid-1980s, this unit was originally just one person providing support for a handful of microcomputers that had appeared in the library. Over the years, the number of microcomputers in the library grew and other technologies arrived. As Mann’s digital collections and services expanded, ITS grew in staff and in the support services it provided. Today, ITS comprises both an operations unit providing desktop support and a software development group that creates new applications for library staff and patrons.
