ABSTRACT

Every library is engaged in multiple projects at any given time. This is the nature of our business. We identify something that needs to be and we go about doing it. The success of a project depends greatly on how the project is initiated, staffed, managed, implemented, and maintained. Chapter 5 details the composition and responsibilities of teams; this chapter provides an overview of the characteristics of projects. The goal of the chapter is to assist libraries with their projects. The focus here is on technical projects, but the basic concepts apply to nontechnical efforts as well.
