ABSTRACT

For samples containing acylglycerides with a wider fatty acid distribution, severe overlap between the compound classes in the chromatogram occurs. In such samples, which in practice unfortunately means most real samples, a class separation is needed before the sterols or sterol esters can be quantified. This can be done using the HPLC-GC approach described above, where PSs and PSEs are separated from the main fat components (TAGs, MAGs) by means of NPLC.
