ABSTRACT

ACM Digital Library <https://www.acm.org>; (accessed May 18, 2005) (1954-) New York: Association for Computing Machinery. The home page of this resource states: “Full text of every article ever published by ACM.” From Volume 1, Issue 1 (January, 1954) of the Journal of the ACM through the latest SIG newsletter, this site offers excellent coverage, but unfortunately not every article ever published by ACM. A comparison between the hard copy and online offerings shows incomplete full text in titles such as Electronic Art and Animation Catalog and Conference Abstracts and Applications. Still, it is an excellent effort, and all publishers should strive to produce the extent of full-text coverage that ACM has. The site offers basic, advanced, and browse modes to its subscribers, while the basic and browse modes are freely available to the general public.
