ABSTRACT
Active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), which have been refered to under a number of different names over the years, play a critical role in the review and approval process used around the world for pharmaceutical dosage (galenic) forms. APIs have been called bulk actives, bulk pharmaceutical chemicals, and even bulk chemicals.
