ABSTRACT
Recovery Manager (RMAN) is an Oracle utility used by the database administrator (DBA) to back up, restore, and recover database files. RMAN manages the processes of creating backups of database files, archived redo log files and control files, and restoring or recovering from backups. It greatly simplifies the tasks DBAs perform during these processes. It can detect many types of corruption problems, and makes sure that the backup does not include corrupted blocks. RMAN provides true incremental backups and automatic parallelization of backups and restores. Its efficiency is very important for any 24 × 7 database environment.
