ABSTRACT
Many vendors of database management systems (DBMSs) are enhancing their products with capabilities for Internet access. Exhibit 1 illustrates how clients access multiple databases through the Internet. Special Internet protocols are needed for such access. The goal is to provide seamless access to the heterogeneous databases.
