ABSTRACT

Vascular malformations have a variety of presentations, and they frequently involve multiple tissues and organs. Evaluation and treatments are challenging, and multiple specialties are frequently involved in the care of patients, who are usually infants, children, or adolescents. The value of an interdisciplinary vascular malformation clinic is legion. It provides “one-stop shopping” for patients and families, it brings together or provides access to all specialties involved in the care of vascular malformations, it saves time and cost for both the patient and the institution, and it allows for expert evaluation and treatments, well beyond the limits of what can be offered by single specialties. The term interdisciplinary clinic emphasizes the necessity of consultation and collaboration between all health-care providers, for the best interest of the patient. Such clinics increase patient satisfaction, improve outcomes, decrease complications, and assure an inspiring team environment, where the best, up-to-date care can be delivered to patients, every day.
