ABSTRACT

There is a growing research interest for the preparation of nanomaterials derived from the renewable resources. Cellulosic nanomaterials can be prepared by using top-down and bottom-up approaches. Chemical and mechanical methods are typical top-down methods for the nanomaterials prepares, whereas bacterial synthesis of nanomaterial is an example of bottom-up approach. Applications of cellulosic nanomaterials can be in the wide areas such as the biomedical field, energy, environment, water treatment, and polymer nano-biocomposites. The aim of this book chapter is to provide an overview of various methods for the preparation of nanocellulosic materials and its potential applications in diverse fields. The book chapter has been concluded with few challenges and future outlook of cellulosic nanomaterials.
