ABSTRACT

Over the last decade, significant efforts have been devoted to understanding the microstructures and mechanical properties of as-cast high entropy alloys (HEAs). However, there is an expectation to reduce casting defects, such as casting porosity, composition segregation, etc. in HEAs. Through the development of this novel alloy system, high entropic fibers begin to appear. High-strength fibers are essential for heavy-duty fasteners in many industry areas. In addition, due to the manufacturing processes and size effect, the microstructure and mechanical properties of fibers are clearly different from bulk ingots. Thus, this chapter aims to summarize the unique microstructure and mechanical properties of high entropic fibers.
