ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the design of wideband wearable slot and notch antennas. Wideband efficient wearable antennas for communication systems are significant in the development of novel wearable 5G communication and Internet of things (IOT) systems. Slot antennas are low profile, compact and low cost and may be assembled in 5G and IOT communication systems. The dynamic range and the efficiency of a communication system may be improved by using active wearable antennas. An amplifier may be added to the wearable antenna. This chapter presents new compact ultra-wideband slot and notch antennas in frequencies ranging from 1 to 18 GHz. The slot and notch antennas were analyzed by using 3D full-wave software. The antenna bandwidth is from 50% to 100% with voltage standing wave ratio better than 3:1. The antenna gain is around 3 dBi with efficiency higher than 90%.
