ABSTRACT

This chapter is focused on the recent environmental problems and their solution using nanobiotechnological approaches. The environment is facing major challenges due to municipal solid waste (MSW) generation, wastewater, and xenobiotic compounds being released into it. These contaminants have the potential to disturb the local environment, ecology, and human health in many ways. The current practices of nanobiotechnology have some potential emerging areas to deal with these major environmental issues. Therefore, microbiology and its associated enzymes have great potential to treat and manage the MSW, wastewater, and xenobiotic compounds. Nanotechnology also received much attention recently due to its wide application in the wastewater treatment, leachates treatment, and bio-recalcitrant compounds remediation that ultimately maintain environmental sustainability and ecological health.
