ABSTRACT

Modified Circular Adaptive Adaptive Median Filter (MCAMF) having circular kernel has been proposed here for suppressing various noises that have different noise density from medical images. The medical images are sent from Medanta Hospital, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Some other state-of-the art adaptive filters have also been implemented, and comparative study has been done. The proposed MCAMF filter performs efficiently at different noise conditions, and it outplays other competitive filters. The performance of all filters is analyzed by using the parameter indices like the Noise Reduction In Decibels (NRDB) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). Moreover, to demonstrate the dominance of the proposed filter over others, two non-parametric statistical tests are investigated.
