ABSTRACT

In recent times, the Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) is one of the more powerful power quality conditioner due to its multi-functionality nature and reduced inverter rating requirement. In this chapter, a soft computing–based DC-link voltage control technique for SAPF has been proposed to improve harmonic compensation performance. A soft computing i.e. fuzzy logic–based controller has been designed in such a way to decline the harmonics due to load perturbation and mismatch of system parameters. Furthermore, a Discontinuous Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (DSVPWM) has been utilized for switching pattern generation. A control approach based on the Hybrid Synchronous Reference Frame (HSRF) method has been employed to assist for reference generation. The simulation as well as experimental results show the potency and reliability of the SAPF with the proposed control approach.
