ABSTRACT
The pancreas is the most complex structure of the body. The presence of a variety of exocrine and endocrine cells has hampered our understanding of the function of the individual cell component and especially their interaction. The available data point to a complex dialogue between the individual exocrine cells, between the endocrine cells, and between the exocrine and endocrine cells.
