ABSTRACT

This chapter briefly describes the background, development, and current status of the relatively new art of comparative risk analysis, its use, and where this new art fits into the general field of environmental risk analysis. It also offers insights on how to organize and prosecute comparative risk analysis projects, and it offers cautions as to the uncertainties involved in the process and as to the meaning of the results. It is not intended to be a complete guide to comparative risk analysis; other sources of information on the subject are given.
