ABSTRACT

Treatment of stable angina pectoris has two main goals: fi rst, to improve quality of life through symptom reduction, and second, to improve prognosis by preventing death and myocardial infarction. Clinicians are increasingly faced with management of older patients suffering from more advanced and complex coronary disease and multiple co-morbidities, many of whom may have previously undergone multiple coronary revascularizations. Clinical decision-making in these patients is often challenging, and not always directly informed by available literature. In this chapter, we will describe the management of three patients with advanced coronary artery disease (CAD), through which we hope to emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary team involvement as well as describe the use of approved and investigational novel treatment options.
