ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case of chronic pain patient. The patient reconstructed her 1986 injury. She was stopped at a stoplight in a right turn lane. She was alone and had her seat belt on in a 1984 Pontiac Firebird. Another car going an estimated 20–25 miles per hour struck her car from behind. he patient reported that there was no damage to her car. Five hours after the injury, she began to experience pain in the right occipital area. The patient stated that as of April of 1986, she was able to perform no work at all. She began in pain program in July of 1986. She had pain in the neck area extending to T5 on the right side and numbness in the right arm. The patient stated that following discharge from program, she had pain every day. She would take Tylenol to medicate for residual pain.
