ABSTRACT
In November of 1976, while Jimmy Carter was being elected president, my husband and I were on vacation at Mikaha Beach, Oahu, Hawaii. We went there from the island of Kauai to see the world-championship board surfers. It was fun sitting on the beach watching those experts handle the waves.
