ABSTRACT

Braiding has been attracting many attentions as a technique for manufacturing preforms on composite materials. It has been developed “Integrated Braiding Technique” which enables to fabricate near-net shaped preforms for 3-dimensional composite materials with reinforcing fibers oriented continuously. Crushing test was performed in order to evaluate the braided rods, the specific energy absorption values of the braided rods showed higher value than that of glass cloth/epoxy tube. In conclusion, braided composites are effective for crushing elements in vehicles.
