ABSTRACT

Libraries have used Decision Support Systems (DSS) to track performance, monitor the results of innovation, identify problems and opportunities, evaluate alternative options, and conduct strategic planning. Until recently, DSS have been underutilized as a collection management tool. This paper explores the potential for and obstacles to computer-based systems for decision support in collection management.
