ABSTRACT

Green chemistry is the design and application of chemical processes to reduce the practice and generation of materials hazardous to human health and the environment. The exclusion of widely dispersed anthropogenic pollutants is one of the main concerns for a sustainable improvement for our planet. Comparing to traditional physicochemical methods, bioremediation is the safest, least troublesome, and most economic treatment. Enzymatic bioremediation has risen as an attractive alternative to traditional methods. Nowadays exciting new opportunities for biocatalysis toward the production of renewable and clean energy sources are rapidly emerging. Based on the premise that these alternatives can contribute to a cleaner environment, especially when using renewable agricultural products, the demand for these energies is increasing.
