ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the security analysis in Body Area Network (BAN) with different types of security aspects and solutions. To build a security proposal for the entire BAN architecture, we must consider the majority of the components, like cloud services and external servers, and we even have to cover the auxiliary devices, such as gateways and access points. In BAN architecture, data confidentiality refers to the security of sensitive data, and this is considered to be one of the most important issues. Since BAN nodes in medical circumstances are required to transmit sensitive and private information about the state of the patient’s well-being, they must, therefore, protect their data from unauthorized, life-threatening access. A collection of guidelines is given for physicians, health care providers, and hospitals by the American Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in order to make sure that the health and medical records of a patient are secure.
