ABSTRACT
The development of a new pharmaceutical product is the need of time to address the rising pressure on pharmaceutical industries for introducing new clinical candidates in the drug discovery pipeline. The newly discovered new chemical entity (NCE) can be developed as an immediate release product, sustained-release product, injectable, topical or transdermal and so many other forms by considering the factors such as nature of the disease, site of action, the onset of action, patient condition and critical physicochemical properties of the NCE. Product development is a broad term that covers a wide spectrum of the products varies from different pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostic kits, and surgical products. The sojourn journey of the NCEs which are therapeutically applicable in mitigation and cure of diseases from discovery laboratories to the shelf of retail shops and in the hands of the patient is the successful drug discoveries.
