ABSTRACT
This article presents the results of a research on the technological development of flexible material, from waste generated by the furniture industry. In a primary moment, a diagnosis was made on the generation of waste in 39 companies located in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte (MG, Brazil). Then, an innovative material was developed, which was tested and applied in the manufacture of products, incorporating design solutions. Procedures at this stage included: waste selection; development of the composite material; development of alternatives for the use of waste; design and monitoring of mold manufacturing; prototyping; manufacturing of finished products. As a result, it was possible to select a suitable sample for the material, systematize its production dynamics, verify its productive viability and generate alternative applications. The technology developed emerges as a sustainable possibility for a correct destination and, besides everything, profitability of these residues.
