ABSTRACT

With new materials-technological systems, an increasing attention is given to Product Design, making the evaluation of the programmatic contents offered by design Faculties necessary, forcing a better preparation of the contents that are taught. Current dissemination of the products and services of the industries in web platforms provide a wider dissemination and communication about materials, processes, and their applications, and can contribute to better support to teaching in design. The close connection between Faculties and Research Centers and industry is an opportunity to the improvement of the teaching and learning of design. In this research, we selected some studies cases of material platforms. In this paper we present the study of nine platforms previously identified and studied, and discuss about their objective and the target audience of each one. This work will question the need to create a “support for design students” that enhances their knowledge.
