ABSTRACT

This paper relates to a research project developed in an Ophthalmology hospital, aimed for elderly patients with low vision condition. A pilot project was implemented in order to measure how this group interacted with a wayfinding system, that combined boards with written information displayed on walls and haptic textures applied on pavements. In order to build this orientation system, different visual and haptic tests were produced, so that a final solution could be achieved to promote an independent, safe and autonomous way on the usage of this space by this group of patients.
