ABSTRACT

This paper presents a conceptual framework for first step of Industry 4.0 implementation in Indonesia’s traditional manufacturing industry. The main objective of this research was formulating a suitable framework for Indonesia’s traditional manufacturing industry in order to jump to Industry 4.0 principles without automation of the main manufacturing process. The work focuses on a configurable virtual workstation as a framework to achieve information transparency that is one of design principles in industry 4.0 concept. The configurable virtual workstation was designed to link the physical production process with the virtual world by enriching digital plant information with sensor data. A web-based laboratory scale software for implementing the framework has been developed. The software handles interactions between the users and the system.
