ABSTRACT
This paper deals with two approaches to use Group Technology in the field of Programmable Logic Controller grouping. The first approach analyses the functionality of the machines to control. A mathematical model is given, and a Genetic Algorithm Clustering approach is used. The second approach analyses the PLC codes and finds the longest matching sequences in them using the Smith-Waterman algorithm. Both approaches are explained by examples.
