ABSTRACT

Mesotherapy is the technique by which active substances are injected directly in the area where their action is desired. In dermatology and trichology, with the injection of steroids for localized inflammatory dermatosis and alopecia, mesotherapy has long been used. Skin is a natural supplier of substances to the body, and the equipment and preparation for the technique are easy. Being a minimally invasive treatment patient tolerance and general satisfaction are often high. The use of a large number of injections implies an effect that could be similar to microneedling, so the possible combination of beneficious effects has to be taken into account. Inflammatory skin diseases may also be a problem in hair mesotherapy. Acute urticaria following mesotherapy, which frequently starts limited to the area of injection, is also possible, being the discontinuation of mesotherapy and the use of antihistamines the suggested approach.
