ABSTRACT
Traditionally, 2D drawings and documents were relied on for design development and project information management. This practice led to miscommunication and human error due to misinterpretations of design and construction documents. Building information modelling (BIM) has been introduced as a response to the above issues, and it has been considered one of the most effective technological and organizational innovations in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. The “heart” of BIM is information. However, the present lack of skilled BIM educators in managing the information in BIM processes calls for the educators to be educated and thus become acquainted with BIM processes. Therefore, the purpose of this chapter is to facilitate the understanding of academics on how managing the information in BIM processes has been tackled by BIM standards from international perspectives, thus reflecting on developing the curriculum.
