ABSTRACT

The tool is a procedure for a space optimisation process where practitioners can involve users in an evaluation of the existing physical frames to identify goals and make plans to improve the facilities. This is important to ensure that the users are sufficiently satisfied with the space. The tool is a space manager’s guide to specify renewal projects through a dialogue with stakeholders. The process should ensure the satisfaction of the end users in relation to a specific space and align supply and demand. An external consultant can facilitate the process, but the facilities manager must ensure that the process takes place and that sufficient time and resources are used during the dialogue. Practitioners prepare a proposal for space optimisation, which makes the layout more in accordance with the organisation’s values and activities. The tool can be used in combination with the other tools presented for the process of space planning as well as the tool usability briefing.
