ABSTRACT

This chapter is based on the sub-project of a larger project titled Implementation of Operational Knowledge in Construction. The sub-project was a development project concerning best practices, and it involved workshops with a large group of facilities managers from a variety of public and private companies. The Danish state’s Building Agency is, in cooperation with the University of Copenhagen and the Maersk Foundation, creating leading research and teaching facilities for the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in Copenhagen. Furthermore, the client issued a set of standard requirements for the building based on many years of experience with this kind of building. Preparation for the future running of the facility is secured through quality assurance, commissioning, documentation and teaching of the future operational staff. From the very start of the Process, the client must set the necessary guideposts for an operational-oriented building process based on the vision, mission and values of the company.
