ABSTRACT

The development towards a fully integrated internal Facilities Management (FM) function in Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) was completed in 1993, where a new head of services was appointed and replacing the two former heads of buildings and services. FM related functions in DR are only to a limited degree portrayed in the written sources particularly for the earlier decades. The strategic tasks with long-term planning of building capacity was until around 1970 taken care of by top management in DR and for the large building projects there were building committees established by the Danish government. The vertical division was strongest for the building-related functions, but it was also to some degree existing for the service related areas. In the period from 1970 to 1988, there even was a situation, where DR had a separate organisational unit on operational, tactical and strategic level for the building-related functions.
