ABSTRACT

The model takes as a starting point that changes often are caused by critical incidents, which can be externally induced as, for instance, the financial crisis or internally induced as, for instance, decisions about organisational changes. The model shows that impacts create an imbalance between needs and expectations among different stakeholders, which can lead to a conflict between the parties. Practitioners can use the model in the initial phases in the strategy process to understand the corporate strategy and the need to change the Facilities Management (FM) strategy and develop new strategic plans. With the model, practitioners and their staff/colleagues on the strategic level can obtain a broader understanding of FM changing over time and what causes such changes. The model is best used as an integrated part of the initial phases of the strategy process as an analytical tool, including analysing the needs and expectations of the different stakeholders.
