ABSTRACT

The tool is a model for the organisational relationships between core business and the Facilities Management (FM) function. The model comprises different principle models for organisational coordination. It provides a terminology and an analytical framework practitioners can use to clarify the organisational relationships between support functions and the core business, and evaluate which forms are most appropriate. The tool is mostly aimed at decision makers who shall ensure that the organisation is shaped and dimensioned appropriately – that is, heads of FM and FM middle managers – and it is used as a basis for their dialogue with top corporate management. The persons responsible for developing and dimensioning the FM organisation use the tool as a frame of understanding and as a basis for analysing the existing relationships between the internal FM organisation and the core business on one side and between the internal FM organisation and external providers on the other side.
